Tiri Tiri Matangi Island

On thursday we went to Tiri tiri Matnagi island to learn about birds  to get there  we  went on a ferry when we got on the island we went for a walk with someone that volunteered to do the job. when we were almost at the end of the walk we found a very rare bird and it's name is kokako when we were at the end of the track we ate our food and then the people did a speech and we took a short cut to the ferry, and went home.

Summarising Simple Solutions

For reading we have been learning to summarise the text. We have done this by using the who, what, where, when, why and how questions. The book we were reading was called Simple Solution, it was about a truck that was stuck.

Post Card

In writing we have been learning to think about the writers to point of view. We are reading the book called "The Faraway Tree"by Enid Blyton in class. The book is about a little girl called connie whose mother is ill so she is sent to live with her mothers friend and and her children Jo,Bessie and Franny. The children show her the faraway tree and to begin she doesn't believe them.

We have been talking about how Connie might have felt and what she would have said to her mother. We decided to write a post card from Connie to her Mother, trying to think about what Connie would say.

I found it hard to think what about what to write.

I found it easy to draw up the post card in my book.

Next time I need to work on writing my words correctly.

Story Telling

During our Te Tuhi workshop  "Creative Stories" we learnt  about the different ways a story can be told. We explored our story "The Lorax" through role play and then created our own poster.

I found it hard to do the right thing when we were doing the role play.

I found it easy to make the poster.

Next time I need to work on cutting better and faster.

Volume Challenge

Blended Giraffe

I had to practice using different line and blending techniques to create a realistic looking giraffe. I found it easy to follow the teachers instructions to create the giraffe shape. It was difficult to keep all the parts in perspective. Next time I will try harder to use blending to show dark and light.

We were learning to identify what the author wanted to feel,think or see.  

Me and my group did this because the Daintree rainforest 

was getting  Destroyed and we want everyone to help us save it.

It was easy because I was drawing a picture to show my opinion.

It was hard because someone was deleting and we couldn't remember the facts.

Next time we will include a call to action.

Solving Fraction Problems

I was learning to solve fraction problems using addition and multiplication strategies.  We had to use kid pix  to show how we solved our four problems.  I found it kinder hard because I got mixed up with the other four problems.  One thing I did well was the first problem because I did the easy one first.  Next time I will try not to get mixed up.
